2025-2026 Financial Aid Application Checklist

In order to be considered for Penn need-based financial aid, you must submit all of the following information by the dates listed.

Deadlines

Follow these deadlines to receive your financial aid eligibility at the same time as your admissions decision. Applications received after these dates will be processed as quickly as possible.

Early Decision November 6, 2024
Regular Decision February 1, 2025
Transfer April 11, 2025
1
FAFSA

The 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available on October 1, but will still be in testing phase. We encourage students to wait until after December 1 to complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA. Submitting in December will not impact your eligibility for aid or the timing of your award.

Penn's Federal School Code is 003378.

2
CSS Profile

Submit online to The College Board. Note that your Social Security Number is required.

The 2025-2026 CSS Profile is available beginning October 1.

Penn’s CSS code is 2933.

If you have already completed the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile, your financial aid checklist may appear to be missing this application for a brief period while it is being processed. In early November, your CSS Profile will be sent to Student Financial Aid and your checklist will be updated.

Note: Financial aid information is required from both biological parents to determine a student's financial aid award. If your parents are unmarried, divorced, or separated, it is very important that you follow the directions below, as your application will not be considered complete until you submit information about your parents.

  • If your parents are unmarried but you all live in the same household, you can fill out the CSS Profile and list them as Parent 1 and Parent 2
  • If your parents are divorced or separated, your non-custodial parent must submit the online Non-Custodial Profile using the login ID and password that will be emailed to you when you complete the CSS Profile. Your non-custodial parent is the parent you live with for less than 50% of the time.
  • If you are having challenges collecting your non-custodial parent's application requirements, then you may submit a petition to have these requirements waived. Submitting a petition does not guarantee it will be approved, and you may be asked for more information. Requests based solely on your non-custodial parent's unwillingness to contribute or submit documents do not qualify for a waiver. If your petition is denied, your non-custodial parent's financial information will be a required component of your financial aid application every year you apply for need-based aid.
3
Federal Tax Returns

Submit parent 2023 federal income tax returns, including all schedules, pages and W-2 forms, to Student Financial Aid. If either of your parents are self-employed or own a business, you'll also need to provide the following relevant tax information:

  • If you have income earnings on Page 1, Line 1 of your 1040, submit a W-2 statement(s)

  • For a sole proprietorship, submit Schedule C

  • For rental income, submit Schedule E, Page 1

Note: Don't file taxes? You still need to submit a Non-Tax Filer Form confirming your non-filer status or your application will remain incomplete.
