Making a University of Pennsylvania education affordable for Philadelphians
As a high school student, you are probably thinking about college and wondering how much it will cost to attend. The University of Pennsylvania, in agreement with the City of Philadelphia, offers a special financial aid program for Philadelphia students called the Mayor's Scholarship Program.
Penn is one of a select group of institutions across the nation that is committed to a need-blind admission policy. This means that Penn's Office of Admissions evaluates admissions without regard to whether a student is applying for financial aid. Like other Penn students who receive financial aid, Mayor's Scholars receive an aid package that meets 100% of their demonstrated need, as determined by Student Financial Services.
As a recipient of the Mayor’s Scholarship, you will have the opportunity to engage with a vibrant community of Philadelphia students at Penn through the Mayor’s Scholars Program. The Mayor’s Scholars Program is a student-run initiative that seeks to enhance the experience of Philadelphians at Penn through academic, social, and networking events throughout the year. Each freshman is offered the opportunity to be paired with an upperclassman mentor of similar interests who can serve as a resource for the first year at Penn and beyond. Please visit the Mayor’s Scholars Program website to learn more about our student engagement.
