Financial Wellness @ Penn

TIPS FOR MANAGING YOUR FINANCES DURING COVID-19

Financial wellness teaches strategies for managing your money and understanding the impact of your everyday behaviors on your financial situation. Practicing financial wellness means evaluating your priorities and goals and adjusting your actions to ensure that you are in control of your money, not the other way around.

During your time at Penn, in addition to developing academic expertise in the classroom, you should also devote time assessing and understanding your personal finances. This will greatly enhance your well-being both at Penn and throughout your lifetime.

Financial Wellness @ Penn seeks to provide you with the tools you need to improve your financial health.

ASSESS your current financial well-being

More Than Just Financial Literacy

Financial Wellness @ Penn aims to enhance students’ financial well-being by providing personal finance education, tools, and resources. Financial literacy is the first step in the process – understanding personal finance skills and why they’re important. We want to take student financial literacy a step further toward financial wellness: our goal is to help students feel empowered to set financial goals, make informed financial decisions, and improve their financial behaviors. We believe every student—undergraduate or graduate—should leave Penn with a plan for their financial future.

As part of the broader Wellness at Penn initiative and as one of the eight domains of wellness, Financial Wellness @ Penn seeks to demonstrate the importance of students’ financial health, now and in the future.

Listen, we know you’re busy, and taking on financial literacy may seem like a big deal. With these extra resources, you can get a handle on personal finance at your own pace.

All Penn students have access to two additional financial wellness resources: Cash Course and Financial Avenue.

Cash Course, developed by the National Endowment For Financial Education, offers self-paced personal finance education, including a series of worksheets and templates for use by students and blog posts featuring students' anecdotes.

Financial Avenue, developed by Inceptia, offers courses on a range of financial literacy topics. Each course includes a combination of videos, worksheets, and action items for students to improve their financial well-being.
