In order to be considered for federal aid, you must submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which requires information from you and your spouse, if applicable.
It is important to check the financial aid information for your school because each graduate school at Penn administers its own financial aid, and may require additional documents to determine your eligibility for institutional grant funding.
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student AID (FAFSA) online to the U.S. Department of Education.
Penn's Federal School Code is 003378.
For information about changes to the 2024-25 FAFSA, please visit our FAQ.
To receive federal funding, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
-
Make satisfactory academic progress in your program of study
-
Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
-
Enroll at least half-time in a degree program
-
Not be in default on a Federal educational loan or owe on a federal grant.
-
For the Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan program: be determined creditworthy by your lender through a credit check. That is, you cannot have adverse credit history.
