Spring 2024 Postponed Examinations

The official period for postponed examinations will be August 27 - September 3, 2024.

Examinations that are postponed because of conflicts with other examinations, or because more than two examinations are scheduled in the same day, may be taken at another time during the final examinations period if the faculty member and student can agree on that time. Otherwise, they must be taken during the official period for postponed examinations.

Examinations that are postponed because of illness, a death in the family, for religious observance or some other unusual event, may be taken only during the official periods. Students must obtain permission from their Dean’s office to take a postponed exam. Instructors in all courses must be willing to offer a make-up examination to all students who are excused from the final examination.

Room assignments for postponed exams will be updated in early August 2024.

A special postponed examination period for graduating students will be offered May 15 – 16, 2024.  Please review the Spring 2024 Postponed Exam Schedule for more information.

Fall 2024 Final Examination Schedule

Fall 2024 Final Exams will take place Thursday, December 12 through Thursday December 19, 2024, excluding weekends.

The schedule and locations for in-person, synchronous final exams will be available on October 4, 2024 and can be found in PATH (https://courses.upenn.edu/) on the section details panel. The published schedule will be subject to change and the campus community is strongly encouraged to check their exam information in Path periodically.

Once published, the day and time of exams should be fairly stable, however, room assignments may change.

In-person synchronous exams will be held at the following times during the Final Period:

  • 9:00 AM – 11:00AM
  • 12:00PM – 2:00PM
  • 3:00PM – 5:00PM
  • 6:00PM – 8:00PM

College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) synchronous exams are administered from 6-8pm. Students in courses that meet Saturday or Sunday must confirm the exam day and time with their instructor.

Instructors may choose to hold asynchronous/take-home final exams. Take-home final exams may be due at any point during the final exam period but must be completed no later than Thursday, December 19, 2024. Students should check with their instructor for more information.

Student Disabilities Services (SDS) provides services for students with disabilities to ensure equal educational opportunities and access. For support please visit https://wlrc.vpul.upenn.edu/.

The deadline for instructors and departments to request a synchronous, in-person final exam is August 30, 2024. Late exam requests will be accommodated as possible, however, space is limited and scheduling conflicts for students are not easily avoided when scheduling exams late. In some cases, late exams can cause changes to other, previously scheduled exams. The campus community is strongly encouraged to check the exam information in Path periodically.
