As a U.S. Citizen or eligible non citizen, in order to be considered for federal financial aid, you must submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which requires information from you and your spouse, if applicable.
International Students wishing to borrow loan funding may qualify for private loans. Review our historical lender list.
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student AID (FAFSA) online to the U.S. Department of Education.
Penn's Federal School Code is 003378.
The 2026-27 Financial Aid Planned Enrollment form will be available in Mid-May 2026
Submit your application, obtain lender approval, and ensure all required documentation is completed. For a list of potential lending partners, please refer to our historical lender list.
To create an accurate Cost of Attendance you must submit the Financial Aid Planned Enrollment Form. Private loans will not be certified until form is received.
To receive federal funding, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Make satisfactory academic progress in your program of study
- Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
- Enroll at least half-time in a degree program
- Not be in default on a Federal educational loan or owe on a federal grant.
- For the Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan program: be determined creditworthy by your lender through a credit check. That is, you cannot have adverse credit history.
